David Nail Feature on cmt.com

It's the once-in-a-lifetime experience that all aspiring country singers dream about -- releasing a debut album and having an audience sing back the words to you. That's what happened to David Nail last night (Aug. 18) at the Tin Roof, a popular bar just off Music Row in Nashville. When he stepped away from the microphone during his breakthrough single, "Red Light," the crowd took it upon themselves to deliver the chorus. That has to feel like a million bucks, especially for a guy that's been trying to make it for 10 years. "Evidently y'all have heard that one somewhere," he said, clearly feeding off the audience's energy. Nail's new album, I'm About to Come Alive, reminds me of Marc Cohn ("Walking in Memphis"), especially because the piano plays a prominent role in the mix and the tempo is a tad slower than most of what you hear on the radio. Judging from his warm reception at the Tin Roof, Nail's career might be about to come alive, too.
