A few weeks removed from the World Series, country singer David Nail now can reflect on his St. Louis Cardinals winning the title.
"I didn't have a moment to sit down and digest everything. It seems like it was two months ago, when it was only a few weeks!" said Nail, who sang "God Bless America" during the seventh-inning stretch of Game 7. "But that series just drove me crazy, all the back and forth."
It's probably also because Nail, who was born in Kennett, Mo., was putting the finishing touches on his second studio CD, "The Sound of a Million Dreams," which came out this month.
"I was pretty superstitious about my team," said Nail, who was touring during the Cardinals' run. "I was leery of going to Game 6 and 7 because the last few times I attended, they lost!"
But that wasn't the case this time as the Cardinals beat the Texas Rangers 6-2 in Game 7 to capture the crown.
"Growing up in the area, everyone was a fan of the Cardinals," said Nail, who played college baseball for one year and even coached baseball one year. "And, I've been fortunate enough to know several of the players and coaches. With Tony La Russa retiring and some questions about the future, I still have no doubt about the team. Once a fan, always a fan."
