David Nail Hits Top 40, Inspires Major Tweets with “The Sound of a Million Dreams”

Nashville: Taking 48 weeks to get to #1 with “Let It Rain,” David Nail showed his songs – as described byBillboard – have the ability to connect in deep ways over time. So when they dropped the title track to his The Sound of a Million Dreams, celebrating the way songs on the radio have the ability contain powerful moments and memories in life as its lived, they believed in the quality of the song – and the message it carried.

Hitting the Top 40 on both Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase with airplay in Louisville, Fresno, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Oklahoma City, Columbus, and Seattle, among others, the Grammy nominated vocalist is striking a chord with fans, CMT (who made the Chris Hicky-directed clip part of their Big New Music Weekend), and, yes, even the people at country radio. Over the last few days, a couple of notable tweets have popped up, echoing the sentiments of USA Today who raved, “Listen, and let your dreams run wild.”

“I knew the second I heard this song,” says the band director’s son from Kennett, MO, “it was everything I ever loved about music… about the way a song can pour out of the radio, and suddenly there you are: back in that moment, and it’s real.

“You know, a lot of my life is caught up in those things. Hearing a song on the radio and remembering, even tasting and feeling where I was. It’s the power of music – and why I do what I do. It’s why I’m here– because of how powerful what those songs hold can be-- even more so pouring out of the speakers in your car… or in a store, an elevator. I just get lost.”

The feeling is mutual. Christi Brooks from Houston’s KKBQ tweeted her followers, “When I heard Mama tried I still break down & cry” GOD I love this song! #TSOMD,” while Boston’s Ginny Rogers was even more pronounced in her passion for the song: “The Sound of a Million Dreams is on @Country1025WKLB right now. @davidnail Song of the Year in my opinion.”

“When these things start popping up in your Twitter feed, it stops you in your tracks,” Nail explains. “I knowhow I feel about this song, but when people I like and respect so much share the same sentiment, that’s when I know… there is a place in the world for great songs-- songs that talk about the power of music and how much it means to you in the course of your day. I think we too often take that for granted. Moments when you get Tweets like that, you know it’s worth the fight for songs like ‘The Sound of a Million Dreams’ ‘cause we’ve all been there, and those are the memories that shape us.”

Currently on tour with Billy Currington and Kip Moore, the man with the two golden downloads for “Let It Rain” and “Red Light” is all about taking the music out to the fans this summer. Beyond his own dates, which are moving hard tickets, he’s toured with Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum and pop’s Gavin DeGraw in an attempt to spread around the sound of a million dreams to the people who believe in them most of all.
