Takes “The Sound of a Million Dreams,” Spends Them On Beer & Baseball

Boston: Since the first of the year, David Nail has spent maybe four days at home, or rather four days when he wasn’t performing, recording or celebrating his first #1 for the record-setting “Let It Rain.” So rare is his time off, that when he realized he had a few days to spend during his current tour with Billy Currington interlaced with his own headlining shows, he decided to spend them in a city that’s grown to be a big part of his life and fan base.

“I’m kinda surprised,” acknowledges the Grammy nominated country vocalist of the city he’s spending his few days off in. “I’m a band director’s kid from Kennett, Missouri… which is three worlds away from the guys out in South Boston-- except for one thing: when you cut the core of the people where I’m from and the people I meet up here, they’re really the same. They work hard as hell, they are loyal to their friends and their family, and they know the difference between someone who’s real and someone who’s posing.

“In a weird way, I’ve never felt more at home… except when I’m home.”

After taking in a Red Sox game last night, Nail and his friends wandered over to South Boston’s L Street Tavern for a few beers and to talk about the game. Billed as the home of the Academy Award winning film “Good Will Hunting,” it has been a haunt for the young man who got to sing during the 7^th inning stretch at the 7^th game of this year’s World Series since his love affair with Boston began a few years ago.

Earlier this week, Music Director Ginny Rogers Tweeted, “Sound of a Million Dreams is on @Country1025WKLB right now. @davidnail Song of the Year in my opinion” – demonstrating the passion his latest single is eliciting in some very powerful markets.

Tonight, Nail will again hit Fenway to see the Red Sox play the Oakland A’s. With cred-rocker Will Hoge – who sang on The Sound of A Million Dreams’ wistful “Catherine” -- also in Boston for a gig, will the man with the pair of golden downloads go sit in at a steamy club with his friend? Or will he once again turn up at the L Street Tavern, where they treat him like a local.

“Hard to say,” Nail demurs. “Depending on how many innings, maybe we’ll just take the day trying to do it all… It’s called life, and it’s something I try to do between the songs. That way when it comes time to make the records, I have something to sing about.”
